Style Report Summer 2016

As read in Shespoke Magazine

The summer months are upon us, which means trading in those heavier fabrics and hues for some pieces with movement and vibrancy.  The runway trends for the season remind fashion- lovers that this season is all about standing out and daring to go bold with those evening ensembles, while sporting some unique silhouettes and patterns in the day. The patterns on trend border on tribal-inspired and the palette for the season varies from rich bold primary colours to soft, romantic pastels. Your basic denim has gotten a bit of a fancified overhaul and those mesh pieces have made their return in more forms than just a retro 80’s tank. Find mesh pieces in everything from day- wear tops to luxurious evening wear.

Sequins and Sass

Who says sequins are purely for the holiday season and winter months? This summer, sequins are taking the basic fitted dress and making them stunning wardrobe additions.  Designers are also using the sequin details on tees and trousers for that extra pop and pizzazz.

Stripe Away

Whether vertical, horizontal or diagonal, the stripe, both thin and thick, in any colour, is seen on this season’s playful pieces.  Add visual dimension and graphic allure with an A-line skirt involving multi-directional stripes in black and white or add a pop of colour. Go nautical with a white and navy horizontal stripe on a boat-neck blouse, while matching with fitted white trousers or jeans.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Bold, bright colours are taking over in day wear this season. Vibrant greens, fiery reds and cobalt blues are being paired with original tribal-inspired patterns and textures.  Geometric shapes and patterns take a basic ensemble to an eye-catching new level that stands out among the rest.

Mesh is no longer a long-gone trend from the 80’s -style sporty crop top. It can be found all over, not only in casual wear tops, but also as the material to bring texture and sex appeal to some striking evening wear and cocktail dresses.
